I slipstrømmen af den bedøvende sang fra vores politikere om at ville fremtidssikre vores velfærd, føler jeg, at det er passende at begynde dette lille opråb med et citat af Albert Einstein: ‘Intet vil være bedre for den menneskelige helbredstilstand samt øge chancen for menneskets overlevelse på Jorden, end indførelsen af en vegetarisk diæt’.

Einstein var af samme grund selv vegetar. Også jeg har været vegetar, siden jeg var ganske ung, og en af de hyppigste fordomme og bemærkninger, jeg altid møder er denne: ‘Ja men, det kan man da ikke leve af. Der er ikke nok proteiner i grønsager’, hvortil jeg altid svarer:

‘Jo, det kan man. Faktisk lever man betydeligt sundere. Det er en stor misforståelse at animalske proteiner skulle være sundere end vege-proteiner. Faktisk er det overforbruget af animalske proteiner, der bærer en stor del af skylden for de livstilsygdomme, vi kæmper med i dag’.

Mangel på rent drikkevand
En FN-rapport konstaterede for mindre en tre måneder siden, at der ikke vil være noget rent drikkevand i verden om 15 år, med mindre vi begynder at ændre livsstil nu. Det er ikke bare tankevækkende, men direkte rystende, når vi ved, at der for at fremstille et kilo svinekød bruges circa 10.000 liter vand.

I Danmark er der 2,2 gris pr. indbygger. En gris vejer gennemsnitlig 105 kg når den slagtes. Så kan man jo hurtigt regne sig frem til, hvor stort et energispild, vi er skyld i, blot fordi vi insisterer på, at det skal være muligt at spise kød hver eneste dag og helst til dumpingpriser.

MRSA, antibiotika og tungmetaller

Jeg var så heldig at møde en af filmens skabere, Ben Mann, i London, hvor jeg interviewede ham om filmen. Dette interview vil snart kunne ses på web-kanalen www.cosmoporta.net (skriv dig på nyhedsbrevet, så modtager du en melding, hver gang der uploades nye film på sitet).

Filmen er optaget i Danmark og England og fortæller den rystende historie om MRSA, og hvordan myndighederne gang på gang lægger låg på problemet, mens det blot får lov at vokse vildt i det skjulte.

MRSA er opstået på grund af overforbrug af antibiotika. Problemer med grundvandet er opstået som følge af overforbrug af sprøjtemidler.

Kobber og tungmetalforgiftning (som endnu ikke anerkendes som en vigtig faktor i menneskets sundhedstilstand af sundhedsmyndighederne i Danmark, selvom denne forgiftning er skyld i eksplosionen af demens, Parkinsonssyge, nedsat fertilitet samt en lang række andre alvorlige lidelser) er opstået på grund af den ensidige påvirkning af fjorde og grundvand ved udbringning af gylle.

Mindre kød og mere økologi
Lad mig slutte denne lille artikel med endnu et Einstein-citat, som vel egentlig taler for sig selv, men som vi alle, og ikke mindst vore politikere bør læse grundigt: ‘Man kan ikke løse problemer med den samme tankegang, som har skabt dem’.

Hvis vi kunne halvere vores kødindtag og samtidig købe økologisk, ville vi med ét slag være i stand til at afhjælpe manglen på fødevarer i verden, skåne og genoprette miljøet og hermed grundvandet, højne sundhedstilstanden og derved spare samfundet for de udgifter, der lige nu ligger som en bombe under os og kan eksplodere, hvornår det skal være.

Hvis ikke nu, hvornår så? Hvis ikke os, hvem så?
